Technicraft 2020 Foodtech by Frank

On the 26th of February all the year seven and eights went to tech. At food tech we made a  noodle salad.

Ingredients:
Noodles
Lettuce
Cucumber
Carrots
Balsamic Dressing

Partner: Agueer

How we made it was, we put the noodles into the pot and filled it with water. We then boiled it until soft. After that we had to get the chicken and shred the chicken up. We also had to cut the carrots into finger size and slice the cucumbers thinly.

Technicraft 2020 Woodwork by Madisyn

On Wednesday we started tech. I was in Mr Grundy's class, woodwork. We are making necklaces.

First we had to pick four people to make the necklace for. We had to pick four silhouette pictures for each person about, what they do, what they like to do, or what will suit them as a person.

The four people I picked to do the necklace for is my brother, sister, my mum, and me. I've finished the silhouette pictures for each person and all I have to do now is pick a person to do it for.

I picked my brother. He loves basketball so I chose this one.

Kiwi Kids News - We Are Different but The Same by Limiteti

It's been one year since the Mosque Christchurch shooting. As many of you know a lot of people tragicly passed away including younger kids and families. We must make an effort to remember the lesson it taught us; meaning that we should celebrate diversity and our differences.

Some day we should all appreciate diversity as it allows you to understand new perspectives. It would be a boring world if we were all the same. We might be different in some ways, we are the same in the ways that count.

Fli Fla Flo

One afternoon, very spontaneously, Room 7 started to sing together. The harmonies they produced were beautiful. It was so unexpected I had to take a video of them, apologies for the poor video quality. When I asked the students what the words meant, they had no idea. It turns out it is an echoing song of nonsense words that has been around for many many years. The point of the song is to strengthen listening skills of the children.

Buddy Time

On Fridays we buddy up with a Year 0-2 class so that the seniors can interact and build meaningful relationships with the juniors. On this occasion the seniors were reading stories to the juniors and all the students enjoyed this very much. The juniors feel that they have all the seniors as their big brothers and sisters. It was heartwarming to watch.

Softball

Room 7 are filled with sporty students that love being outdoors and so Wednesday Lunchtime Softball sessions have been great fun. We enjoy being outdoors in the lovely sunshine we have been getting lately in Auckland.

Hamlins Hill adventure

On Friday 28 February 2020 the year 7 and 8s went on a field trip to to Hamlin's Hill to look at pest control in action.
We had an educator from Auckland Zoo, Mr Dale, come along and show us the traps used and why it is important to be targeting the pests. We had an awesome view once we got to the top of the hill.
We learnt the importance of protecting our native flora and fauna.
